CA HS to Compete in America's Showcase

California Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) is excited to announce that California will again be sending a team of High School ice hockey players to participate in the 2013 Annual America’s Showcase National Hockey Tournament. The Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League (ADHSHL) and the Northern California High School Hockey League (NCHSHL) will combine efforts in putting together an elite group of high school student-athletes to compete in this prestigious national event being held at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center, April 10 – 14, 2013 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Selected to lead Team California in this tournament will be Head Coach Arne Pappin. Coach Pappin is the Head Coach of Damien High School’s varsity team. Coach Pappin has selected Jeff Noviello, Head Varsity Coach at Servite HS, and Mike Perkins, Head Varsity Coach of JSerra Catholic, to complete his coaching staff. Adding to the talent will be Matt Blanchart, Manager of Team California.

“With the experience of this coaching staff and the amount of talent at the high school level in California, I expect the try-out process to be exciting. We want to go to Pittsburgh and represent the State of California and show California High School hockey is on the map.” says Coach Pappin.

This tournament is an annual event for scouts from many colleges, junior hockey programs, and central scouting organizations throughout the country to come and see some talented players compete. This year’s event will have the added bonus; the NCAA Men’s Division I Ice Hockey Championships, the Frozen Four, are being held in Pittsburgh the same weekend as the America’s Showcase.

Team California will consist of only junior and senior students in good academic standing who participates in the high school leagues throughout the State. Try-outs for the team are tentatively set for February 8th and 9th in Southern California. Interested players should email Matt Blanchart at, by January 15th to be placed on the try-out list.
